Mayor Fenty Announces Winners of Applications for Democracy Contest
Winners of the District of Columbia’s Applications for Democracy technology contest were recently announced by Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and Chief Technology Officer Vivek Kundra. Launched on October 14, 2008, the contest provided an open invitation to software developers to create integrated tools that when utilized can display data from different sources to the end user. Contest participants were able to access public data via the efforts of the Citywide Data Warehouse and the creation of its Data Catalog. The CityDW Data Catalog and Data Feeds support the exchange of District agency information by providing access to over 200 data sets through partnerships with OCTO's GIS group and DC government agencies.
